Wooden children playhouses

Selecting the Ideal Wooden Children’s Playhouse Online

When selecting a wooden playhouse online, it’s essential to consider several key factors to ensure it’s the perfect fit for your child, garden space, and budget. Here are some important factors to consider before purchasing a children’s playhouse.

Garden size and playhouse dimensions

The first step in selecting a wooden playhouse is to evaluate the available space in your garden. Wooden playhouses for children come in a variety of sizes, ranging from 0.8 m² to 3 m², so it’s important to measure your available space beforehand. Keep in mind that it’s important to leave additional space around the playhouse for your children to play, as well as to allow easy access for maintenance and painting. We recommend ensuring ample space around the playhouse to allow children to move freely and play comfortably.

Remember that some children’s playhouses feature a protruding roof or terrace, which will require additional space. We highly recommend reviewing both the playhouse dimensions and your garden layout to ensure the playhouse fits perfectly within your space.

Base of the playhouse

A properly prepared base is essential to ensure the stability and longevity of a playhouse. We recommend constructing both small and large playhouses on a solid base of paving stones or concrete. A solid, moisture-resistant base will not only provide stability for the playhouse but also help protect the wood from moisture damage, ensuring its longevity.

Playhouse security

The child’s age is another crucial factor to consider when selecting a playhouse. While many playhouse manufacturers recommend their products for children aged 3 and up, our playhouses are suitable for children under 3 years old as well, with adult supervision. Each wooden playhouse is EN-71 certified, ensuring the playhouse is designed for safety, allowing children to play with confidence and peace of mind. The opening windows and doors feature a 15-20 mm frame spacing to minimise the risk of injury during play, while the natural properties of the wood ensure it is safe and non-toxic for children’s health.

Child’s height vs. playhouse size

The age and height of the children, as well as the dimensions of the playhouse, are key factors to consider when selecting the right playhouse. When selecting the size, consider whether your child is larger or smaller than average for their age, as this can impact the ideal choice of playhouse. Especially when purchasing a children’s playhouse as a gift, be sure to consider these recommendations to ensure the perfect fit.

If you intend to use the playhouse for several years, be sure to consider whether it will accommodate a growing child. For example, wooden playhouses on stilts or larger models are often preferred, as they can be adapted to suit older children as they grow. If three or more children will be using the playhouse, we recommend selecting one that is larger than 2 square meters to ensure enough space for everyone.

Style

Wooden playhouses come in a variety of styles, ranging from classic designs to stilt houses and even Japanese-inspired models. Younger children will enjoy the simpler models, while older children often prefer more intricate designs, such as playhouses on stilts, with slides, terraces, and opening windows.

When selecting a style, it’s essential that the playhouse is not only visually appealing but also functional and practical.

Installation

Our wooden children’s playhouses are delivered flat-packed, securely wrapped on a pallet, and come with clear, detailed assembly instructions. While the assembly process is straightforward, it is recommended to have two people for easier and quicker setup. Larger or more complex playhouses may require additional time and skills for assembly. Remember to involve the children in the building process – it can become a cherished memory.

Installation requires only basic tools, such as a hammer, screwdriver, and drill. The kit includes all the parts—simply treat or paint the wood, assemble the pieces, and secure them following the instructions. If you’re unsure about the assembly process, you can hire a professional to assemble the playhouse for you.

Decoration and maintenance

Wooden playhouses are delivered in their natural state, so it’s important to treat the wood with a water-resistant wood preservative or paint specifically formulated for wood. This treatment will protect the wood from cracks, sun damage, moisture, fungi, insects, and discolouration.

When selecting the colour and decorating style, consider involving your children to let them contribute to the playhouse’s final look. Decorating a playhouse can be a fun and creative activity, giving your child the opportunity to express their unique personality.

Price

Finally, your budget is also an important factor to consider when selecting a playhouse. Prices can range from €100 to €700, depending on the size, style, and additional features of the playhouse. Be sure to factor in the additional costs for delivery, installation, and painting as well.

It’s essential to choose a high-quality playhouse that meets your needs while staying within your budget. By investing a little more in durability and safety, you can ensure that your child will enjoy the playhouse for many years to come.
